Alcove & Royal Borough of Greenwich's Digital Health and Care Service Wins National LGC Award

A Model for the Future of Health and Social Care

We are incredibly proud to announce that the Royal Borough of Greenwich's Digital Health and Care Service has been named Winner in the Health & Social Care category at the LGC Awards 2026.

The award recognises a groundbreaking partnership bringing together the Royal Borough of Greenwich, health and care partners, technology providers and frontline teams to transform how support is delivered to residents across the borough.

The judges described the initiative as:

"A success story of determination based upon a clear vision, delivered at a remarkably fast pace. At its core is the ambitious adoption and mobilisation of technology solutions to deliver profoundly positive benefits to residents of the borough and the agencies that work there. At its heart is the desire to give residents control over their lives and to prevent escalation. The project is fabulously scalable and a model for our times — one that all should seek to learn from in an increasingly tech-driven world."

For everyone involved in the programme, this recognition means a great deal.

Putting Residents in Control

The vision behind the service has always been simple: use technology not as a replacement for people, but as an enabler of independence, prevention and better outcomes.

Through a combination of digital health, technology enabled care, proactive monitoring and person-centred support, the service helps residents remain independent for longer, reducing the likelihood of crisis and ensuring help is available when it is needed most.

Importantly, the service is designed around giving people greater choice, control and confidence in their daily lives.

Delivering Change at Pace

One aspect highlighted by the judges was the speed and determination with which the programme was delivered.

Transforming health and social care services is never easy. It requires collaboration across organisations, the willingness to challenge traditional models and a relentless focus on outcomes.

The success of the Greenwich programme demonstrates what can be achieved when partners unite around a shared vision and remain focused on delivering meaningful benefits for residents.

A Scalable Model for Modern Care

The judges also recognised the service as a scalable model for the future.

As health and social care systems face increasing demand, workforce pressures and financial challenges, technology-enabled approaches will play an increasingly important role in supporting communities.

The Greenwich model demonstrates how digital innovation can be implemented safely, effectively and at scale, creating benefits for residents, practitioners and commissioners alike.

A Partnership Effort

This award belongs to everyone who has contributed to the success of the programme.

We would like to thank the Royal Borough of Greenwich, frontline practitioners, health and care partners, operational teams and, most importantly, the residents who have embraced the service and helped shape its development.

At Alcove, we are honoured to play a role in delivering this award-winning service and delighted to see the impact of technology-enabled care recognised on a national stage.

The LGC Awards are among the most respected awards in local government, celebrating excellence, innovation and public service across the UK. To be recognised as a winner in such a competitive field is an incredible achievement for everyone involved.

Congratulations Team Greenwich.
