Evidence Matters: Alcove delivers technology for UK’s largest homecare evaluation

Alcove is proud to have been the delivery technology partner for the Connected Homecare project in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham – the largest evaluation of homecare technology in the UK to date.

Funded through the Adult Social Care Technology Fund (Department of Health and Social Care, distributed by NHS England), this groundbreaking project was led by Rethink Partners, robustly evaluated by Care City, and delivered in close collaboration with local care providers.

Why this project matters

Homecare is one of the most vital – and stretched – areas of adult social care. This project has shown how, with the right support, technology-enabled care (TEC) can be fully embedded into homecare delivery. By working directly with providers and frontline staff, Connected Homecare has demonstrated that technology can flow naturally into everyday practice, improving both outcomes for residents and efficiency for services.

Alcove’s role

Alcove provided the digital care technology that underpinned the evaluation – from smart devices and sensors to training and support for frontline teams. Our mission has always been to ensure technology feels simple, practical, and genuinely useful in people’s everyday lives.

This project proves that when care staff are enabled and supported, technology can unlock huge potential:

  • Helping people live independently for longer

  • Reducing risk and giving families peace of mind

  • Supporting providers to deliver more responsive, personalised care
