Walking for a Cause: Celebrating Louise and Her 50km Winter Walk for Sands
in sectionMeet Louise – Alcove’s incredible Service Operations Advisor, dedicated teammate, and all-round inspiration.
We are incredibly proud of Louise, who is taking on a deeply meaningful challenge this December: walking 50km as part of Sands’ Winter Walk 2025, raising vital funds for a charity that offers comfort, guidance and support to families facing baby loss.

Louise has been part of the Alcove family for almost four years, quickly progressing from a Care Technology Installer to now thriving in her role as Service Operations Advisor. Her background in childcare shaped her passion for supporting families – a value that continues to shine through in everything she does.
Although she hasn’t personally experienced baby loss, the cause is profoundly close to her heart. Last year, one of Louise’s closest friends lost her baby – an unimaginable moment that deeply affected everyone around her. Louise witnessed her friend’s strength, resilience and ability to surround her little girl with love despite heartbreak. Supporting Sands felt like a meaningful way to honour that family and all others who endure similar experiences.
“I’m doing this walk because Sands provides the comfort, community and support that no family should have to face alone.”
Throughout December, Louise is walking a little each day to reach her 50km target. On workdays, she heads out on her lunch break with Reggie, her loyal Labrador. On weekends, she enjoys longer walks with both Reggie and her little boy.
This challenge is not only about raising funds; it is also about personal wellbeing, resilience and building positive routines during a demanding year. Louise hopes her efforts will raise awareness of Sands’ invaluable work and support the families who rely on it.
“Getting out each day with my little boy and our Labrador helps clear my mind. Exercising outdoors gives me moments of calm, clarity and fresh air that help me reset and find peace – and doing it for such an important cause, to raise funds and awareness, is all the motivation I need.”
Her fundraising goal is £250, and she is already well on her way.
