We’re delighted to share that the West Midlands technology-enabled care programme, designed and led by WM5G, has been awarded Best Innovation Project of the Year at the Health Tech Digital Awards.
Funded by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, and delivered in partnership with Birmingham City Council, City of Wolverhampton Council, Coventry City Council, Rethink Partners, Care City and 4oC this programme has demonstrated the real impact of a regional, joined-up approach to digital care.
What the programme achieved
Over the past year, Alcove has worked closely with WM5G and local authority partners to deliver cutting-edge care technology across the region. Together, we’ve shown how digital solutions can:
-
Enable people to live more independently at home
-
Improve quality of life for residents and families
-
Ease pressure on stretched health and care services
-
Create new, scalable models of care that can be replicated nationally
This award highlights what is possible when innovation, public sector leadership, and delivery expertise come together.
Voices from the partnership
Jess from WM5G reflected:
“Incredibly proud to have designed and led this programme along with WM5G colleagues. Huge thanks to Rhys Enfield—we could not have done it without you—and to our partners Rethink Partners and Alcove Group. And of course, the unwavering support and dedication from the adult social care teams in Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Coventry. It’s been a pleasure to work with you all. Still more to do – but isn’t there always!”
Robert Franks, Managing Director at WM5G, added:
“Congratulations all! This is well-deserved recognition of both your hard work and the breakthrough outcomes it’s delivering.”
What’s next
The award is just the beginning. WM5G and its partners, including Alcove, are already planning the next stage of digital care transformation. An upcoming event will showcase outcomes so far and create space for leaders, innovators and people with lived experience to shape the future together.
Our thanks
Alcove is proud to have played a delivery role in the technology roll out in this award-winning programme. We’d like to thank WM5G, the partner councils, and the many adult social care teams whose commitment has made this work possible.
This recognition is proof of what collaboration across regions and sectors can achieve — and why digital care must remain at the heart of social care transformation.
