Caretech that is modular and grows with you as loved ones age
Stay Safe at Home SensorsWireless movement sensors stick up around the house. Usually high up in the corner of each room you want to monitor. You might have one in the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room. That way you can see how active someone is and know if they suddenly stop moving about like they normally do.
You may put a door sensor on the front door and one on the fridge door. That way you can see people going in or out, or make sure someone is eating enough or potentially at risk of a UTI.The sensors talk to the Alcove hub, which sends data securely to the cloud. They also pick up heat, light and battery information - giving live system status which is important for safeguarding.
You can then see this through Alcove’s app, and set up alerts which are sent as text messages to your phone if something is wrong.
You can also (just like telecare) add on optional bed/chair occupancy sensors, moisture detection sensors, and smoke & extreme heat sensors.
Keep in Touch CarephoneThis is just a really simple communication aid for those whom are frightened of technology to replace the telecare carephone. Press a person’s face to make a call. If you’re not online at the time, you will get a text telling you you missed a call or a voice call to your mobile.
To video call into the carephone, you need to have an Android phone, a tablet, a laptop computer, or a desktop computer with a camera and speakers. It has its own phone number so you can call it too. You can also send it text messages, which pop up on the screen.
Schedule messages or reminders every day, every week or just one off. Good for medication reminders, memory prompts or just saying nice things like 'I love you Mum X'.
Because this is about quality of life, not just need.
Knowing Care is There With Alexa and a Smart DoorbellAlexa goes up in the hall by the front door. The Smart Doorbell goes outside the front door. Carers check in "home" when they arrive and "away" when they leave with our bespoke skill.
Get informed live on the Alcove app who is coming and going and for how long.See how long carers are visiting for, what time they arrive and leave. Get an alert if they are late or don't turn up. And also use her for playing the radio or telling stories.
Alcove web-based application
Each person has their own dashboard which has various features:
- Alert History
- User Details
These are alerts I’ve received recently. I just click on the blue link and go straight to the Alcove system to call mum and resolve them.
Alerts can be personalised for each individual
not up and about, not eaten, bathroom emergency, no activity, front door open at night, numerous bathroom visits, temperature too hot / too cold, carer not arrived, medication reminder missed, call to carer not answered etc.
Red alerts are still active and black ones have already been resolved. If you don’t resolve or escalate them, they pass on to the next person in an escalation chain.
Eileen’s fridge usage has fallen since last month (see red arrow going down) so her daughter started a conversation about whether she is eating enough.
She noticed that Eileen appears to have lost weight so arranges for daily delivery of a hot meal.
MSH@Home is very happy to endorse and recommend the Alcove assertive technology system. The system allows us to track and monitor the reliability of our caring staffing in the field, as well as demonstrating that we never miss a call when it comes to CQC inspections.. It reduces client cost, because they may be able to reduce the number of care visits required in the day, but still have the security and peace of mind that their welfare is being monitored and they can remain living independently in the comfort of their own home.
Alexandra had a bad day today. She couldn’t get out of the bath. The sensors raised a bathroom emergency alert before she had even called for help.
Her son was busy at work so a responder was sent out to help her and put her to bed.
She missed her evening medication reminder while all this was going on.
